Lovers of Cabernet Franc band together; 2023 is a high-water mark for quality
The moment Kristy Wenz said “#CabFrancismyBoyfriend” we knew we’d met a kindred spirit, one of our tribe.
You get through it because there aren’t any other viable choices, and we suckle at the comforting teat of alcohol in the dark.
We had the pleasure of hosting Kristy for a tasting at the winery in November, hosted by the Livermore Valley Wine Community. As we have done for other writers recently, we thought it would be fun to take a deep dive into Cabernet Franc. What we didn’t know is that she works in wineries during crush in Oregon and loves Cab Franc as much as we do

It is not often that we get to share the details of Mirassou family history, our love of the Loire Valley’s exultant variety, and Livermore Valley’s mission to be known as the center of all things Cab Franc in America all while geeking out to pH levels at harvest, the best clones of Cab Franc to plant in Livermore, and —mostly—the esthetic miracle that is well-made CAF.
