Paris is an Impossible City
Paris is an impossible city. And all the best words have been used already to describe it.
My paltry few will add only noise perhaps, but they will be as true as I can make them.
Paris is a northern place and does not share with Rome or Rioja or Los Angeles the laconic intensity of heat and yellow light. Its coloring is the blue of ice and the pewter of worked metal. It is a cold city, though the weather may be perfect (as it was for my Love and I this languorous Saturday).
